U.S. Port of Entry

A Port of Entry is any designated place at which a CBP officer is authorized to accept entries of merchandise to collect duties, and to enforce the various provisions of the customs and navigation laws (19 CFR 101.1).

The Des Moines International Airport (DSM) is the only Port of Entry located in Iowa.  As a Port of Entry, DSM has on-site U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection and U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors.  DSM is the only location in Iowa for international goods and passengers to enter the state.

More information about the Des Moines Port of Entry is available at the CBV.gov website.
